MortonArts is very excited to participate in this wonderful Bealtaine project,  facilitated and organised by The Tudor Artisan Hub. Not our first rodeo with this celebration of May and all things Hub but certainly a new challenge for us.  Swapping our paintbrushes for sewing needles and using fabric instead of paper, we set ourselves a goal of finding our inner seamstress and storyteller.
For some of us, it became a journey back in time, to long forgotten or hidden memories and for some it was a celebration of our home, lives and family. We chose our material, threaded our needles, pricked our fingers, rummaged through haberdashery and talked to each other about the time and places we were representing. For one of our group it was depicting Lourdes, a place of worship and pilgrimage for him. For another it was her love of dance and music; another wanted to commemorate where she was born, her beautiful grandchildren and her beloved dog. Images of beautiful cottages, blue skies Irish countryside, sheep, stars, the moon, aurora borealis in a Tipperary sky... all treasured memories now immortalised in this beautiful book telling the story of our lives.
It's always an honour to be asked and included in these innovative and exciting projects and for that we thank Linda Fahy and the wonderful Tudor Artisan Hub, Carrick on Suir.
